Oceana Santa Monica, LXR Hotels & Resorts

Really nice room, larger for the area! We had a nice view of the ocean. I booked with Amex's Fine Hotel & Resorts Program and the staff had a bottle of wine and fruiting waiting for us. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the dinner was SO good! The pool and gym areas are small but quiet and large enough considering the property is pretty small. The hotel is in a great location for people who want to be within walking distance to the shops and main SM area but still want a quieter location. Would highly recommend!

Update: Manager reached out and is taking care of us. I think 103 is the only room like this... It is a beautiful property and the valet people are awesome! My wife is a Hilton Diamond Member and booked a standard king room (with a real bed). When we checked in they said they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Oceanfront boardroom (room 103), which sounds exciting. When we got to the room it looked very nice, until we realized the only bed was a Murphy bed. You could feel the support braces under the mattress and there is a board around the sides that you can feel if you’re close to the edge. I would have had a better chance sleeping on the floor. They said they were fully booked so we left. Very disappointed and the front desk was less than sympathetic and not helpful. Update: Manager reached out and is taking care of us. I think 103 is the only room like this... It is a beautiful property

Room are renovated but….you are robbed!! You are sandwiched with run down condos. Your view is someone’s dirty patio. This is definitely not an oceanfront property…more like partial ocean views. What can you possibly see with only 3 floors? Needless to say there are very limited ocean view rooms. Service is terrible. Cherilyn was emotionless and stale. Rooms are not clean. Housekeeping chose to blame us before taking accountability to do their jobs properly. The hotel seemed to be better before Diego started to manage. Definitely can find a better quality property in the area for the cost you are paying per night. If you are a Diamond member, save your time!!! This property doesn’t care about your status. They refuse to offer any real amenity or an upgrade. Food was mediocre. Hotel was very small. No privacy!! Loud and no hot water!! I will never stay at this property again. Waste!!

we stayed in this hotel at the beginning of December 2023. The hotel is certainly of impeccable quality, the rooms are exceptional, the services too, the internal courtyard with the swimming pool is beautiful, the small terrace is beautiful, the small personal swing. Lenny's kindness is spectacular.... thank you for making our stay in Los Angeles so special!

I chose the Oceana Santa Monica for my recent stay, anticipating the exceptional guest experience synonymous with the property. Upon booking, I specifically selected a room with one King-sized bed. However, upon arrival, I was surprised to find myself checked into a room with two Queen beds, a change made without prior communication. It was only after I rechecked my reservation confirmation and returned to the front desk that I was informed, quite casually, that a room with a King-sized bed was unavailable. While I fully appreciate that unexpected operational issues can occur, it is the manner in which these situations are handled that distinguishes good service. Communication is key, and unfortunately, it was lacking in this instance. I had even reached out regarding this concern through a reply to a pre-arrival email from the hotel, to which Daniel kindly noted that my feedback would be passed on to management. Regrettably, the management team did not even bother to respond to my email. The essence of a reservation is to guarantee a specific type of accommodation or service is available upon my arrival. I understand that occasionally guests' preferences like a room on a higher floor may not be honored, but here I'm talking about the basic element of a reservation like how many and the size of the beds explicitly offered as different options during the booking process. When these basics are not met, proactive communication and appropriate measures to rectify the situation are essential. It is in these areas that I feel the service fell short during my stay.
